URBAN GreenUP will sign the Nature-Based Solutions Cooperation Manifesto in Mantova

The cluster of NBS projects funded by the H2020 programme will sign the first Nature-Based Solutions Cooperation Manifesto, which aims to guide the adoption of NBS by other cities at worldwide level. URBAN GreenUP project, coordinated by CARTIF, is the main promoter of the document.

This project works on the development of a new strategy for renaturing cities through the application of Nature Based Solutions. Actions are being carried out in the demonstrator cities: Valladolid (Spain), Liverpool (UK) and Izmir (Turkey). With the signature of the Manifesto, the consortium of URBAN GreenUP objective is to gather any city, organization or individual who makes his way in the application of Nature Based Solutions in cities, with the goal of improving life in cities for its citizens.

The manifesto will be signed in the context of the first World Forum on Urban Forests, which will take place in Mantova (Italy), from November 28th to December 1st 2018. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Municipality of Mantova, the Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology (SISEF) and the Politecnico di Milano are the organisers of this Forum, whose title is ‘Changing the nature of cities: the role of urban forestry for a green, healthier and happier future’.

Representatives of the Cluster of the Nature Based Solutions Projects will take part in different panels and open sessions as keynote speakers and in two dedicated events: the forum is the opportunity to seal the will and the need for a strong cooperation among NBS projects.

On November 29, the NBS Cluster, represented by the European Commission Senior Policy Officer Josefina Enfedaque, will take part in the plenary session ‘Nature Based Solutions and the present’, with a speech on Transforming cities, enhancing well-being through nature based solutions. The EU-led mission towards the urban green transformation.

A side event organized by the URBAN GreenUP project in collaboration with the NBS Cluster ‘Overcoming barriers and enhancing benefits of Nature Based Solutions’, will be held on November 30, with the participation of speakers from different NBS project.
