Domotics and Digital Home

In this research line aims to study in depth, research, and develop techniques and technologies that, within the scope of homes and buildings, offer innovative solutions –systems and services- that boost and promote energy efficiency in homes and buildings.

foto-2-domotica-HDIn order to accomplish this, we work on the following technological areas:

  • Networks (of devices)
  • Multimedia integration
  • Intelligence
  • Context-awareness
  • Multimodal man-machine interaction

foto-1-domotica-HDAll this fields join together within the term “Intelligent Environment” (AmI, from the acronym in Spanish), a new paradigm that grows around the concept of “Digital Home,” which is the instrument that makes possible to introduce to homes energy efficiency strategies, with the purpose of helping the users to optimize the energy consumption of their homes without diminishing their comfort.

The term “Intelligent Environment” includes the use of new technologies to provide with “intelligence” the spaces (home, office, car, etc.) in a way that they adapt to the individual by giving “memory to our environment, so it learns our routine and makes our life easier, hiding the complexity of the technology.”

The main objective is to direct the acquired knowledge on this areas toward divers fields of application inside homes and buildings:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Comfort
  • Safety
  • Entertainment
  • Telehomecare
  • Telemedicine

Projects

cartif 05

Amienergy

Within this project, the main tasks assigned to Cartif are to develop the services of air conditioning management and demand side management. Moreover, we are responsible of carrying out the integration of the diverse services that are developed within the scope of the project.

AIVI (Abbreviation in Spanish for “Intelligent Environments for Independent Life”)

A nation-wide initiative aimed at speeding up the use of new networks, services and applications within homes, enabling and enhancing the intelligent environments, particularly focusing on the technical areas of construction (and equipment), consumer electronics, telecommunication services, household appliances, etc. All of this centered on providing a service of telehomecare intended for dependent people.
