19 july 2016

The four first electric vehicles, purchased with the project funds, have been presented today. The event counted on the presence of the CARTIF CEO, José R. Perán, the REMOURBAN project coordinator, Miguel Ángel García, the mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente and the councils of Finance and Mobility.

The REMOURBAN project researchers, distributed in 22 countries, are creating a model of integrated and sustainable urban regeneration, implementing innovative technological solutions in towns in the fields of energy, transport and ICT, with the aim of accelerating the transformation of European cities in intelligent areas in order to get the social progress and environmental regeneration.

In Valladolid, the project includes two parts. On the one hand, the intervention in 398 homes in the neighborhood of the company Fasa-Renault. This action focuses on the building rehabilitations, improving their envelope and provides them with systems that use renewable energy to achieve energy savings of 40% and a reduction of 85% in CO2 emissions.

On the other hand, it is planned the deployment of a fleet of sustainable vehicles with several actions that will benefit approximately 4500 inhabitants. This plan of electric car promotion has more than 3M € to buy electric taxis, electric vehicles for the city council, in addition of the installation of its charging points.

With the launch of the two buses and two electric cars for the service of the municipal corporation presented today, the first part of mobility actions planned for the project is executed.

The new buses, manufactured by the Galician company Vectia, show an evolution in the electrical system that will leave use less electricity capacity in its infancy, to a storage maxium electrical capacity that will allow to circulate in pure electric mode throughout the tour through the energy from the load between the beginning and end of the line. At these points ultrafast recharge stations will be installed, main innovation of these vehicles. With these buses, the renewal of the Auvasa fleet has started, which will be completed progressively over the next years.

With reference to the municipal fleet, these will be for shared use of staff and will contribute to the progress of the project by providing consumption data and sustainability of vehicles. This aspect of monitoring and use of data will be common to all vehicles purchased and deployed in mobility actions of the project.
