First steps to sustainability award for REMOURBAN

Despite only early beginnings, Nottingham Trent University and project partners in the city have been recognised by the Nottingham Post environmental awards in the 'First steps towards sustainability' category this late October.

Winners and runners-up were chosen in 10 categories, from innovative solutions in tackling climate change to inspire future generations.

REMOURBAN was commended for is 'brilliant ideas to modernise the urban environmental and cut CO2', using deep renovation smart meters and major improvements to the city's district heating system. Judges also appreciated the new electric mobility infrastructure and easing delivery traffic in the city center.

The awards were run in conjunction with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Nottinghamshire Country Council and Veolia. Speaking at the event, Erin McDaid, of the trust, said: 'These awards provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate all the positive action that is being taken to make our country a greener place to live. Hopefully their efforts will help inspire others to do more'.
